March equals road trip.

There are some people you really prefer dining with. You know, the ones who are open to anything and always happy to order a variety of things so you can share and experience as many tastes as possible. My friend Danielle is definitely one of those people, and for our birthdays, we decided to do something decadent. Like a little road trip focused on having good meals.. So off to Portland we went!

I'm quite embarrassed to say that in my near 17 years of living in Seattle, I haven't really spent a whole weekend kicking around Portland. And not for any good reason really. (Equally embarrassing, and a travesty really is that I haven't been to the infamous Oregon coast- working on rectifying that as well this year). PDX is pretty similar to Seattle, sure, but there's no state income tax (hello, shopping) and it's really giving Seattle a run for its money on the food scene.

Despite the persistent rain, it was a great weekend of wandering the city and eating well. Very well. On our way of town, the last stop was at Beast. What a beautiful little spot, with an open kitchen and a large chalkboard wall filled with little nuggets to digest while noshing on the beautifully plated food.

It was a brief little getaway. but sometimes, aren't those the best to replenish your hunger?
