It could be worse.

It could be worse, living in the city. Behind one of my favorite neighborhood spots, Machievelli, it is going to be a foodie heaven. This oddly shaped building, now known as the 'Melrose Market' is under development. Previously, it housed a auto repair shop for the bulk of the space, and frankly, I'm not sure what else. Facing Pike, Machiavelli was on one corner, and Baguette Box was on the other.

Now? Oh, my.. where do I begin? My foodie crush Matt Dillon, is relocating Sitka & Spruce here from Eastlake. Homegrown is a foodie's sandwich dream; they're focused on sustainability through and through. Tamara Murphy is opening a new spot here; I'm a big fan of Brasa and their amazing happy hour. Tamara touched my heart a few years ago when she raised her own pig and wrote about that experience impacted her. There's Marigold & Mint, a sweet little flower shop that also will sell organic produce. A cheese shop, Calf & Kid, will also be in the space. Cheese shop, 6 blocks from home, 2 blocks from work- come on! And finally, Rain Shadow Meats, an old school butcher.

This is a foodie's paradise, and all of this will be a mere 6 blocks from my home (and even closer to my work). Most of these spaces are newly open or opening in the coming weeks... Must control self. Must control the purse.

It could be worse...right?
