The Art of Doing Nothing

One of the many benefits of house sitting for Lee & Rob this summer is to be able to enjoy both a fantastic deck and a bbq.. Two things I desparately miss from living in Woodinville. On Friday, I made use of the bbq, making a dinner of barbequed chicken, corn on the cob and sliced tomatoes.
On Saturday morning, I woke up the sound of the hens patiently awaiting my rousing from bed. Once I made some coffee, I let the girls out and settled into a chair to read. Where I stayed for the next 3 1/2 hours. After some lunch and a quick jaunt out to the pea patch for some watering, I resumed the same position for the next 4 hours. I read a whole book that afternoon. I had no commitments to be anywhere. I took a nap on the deck with the sun warming my skin. It was blissful. And a gentle reminder that I need to make the art of doing nothing a regular date in my calendar.
