A New Year

During my time on Whidbey, I began to think of the upcoming year and how I wanted to spend my time, what I wanted to focus my attention on. I've never been a big fan of resolutions- making a sweeping resolution to lose 20 lbs. seems like setting oneself up for failure. I'd rather set a goal of finding a yoga class that I loved; because if I really enjoyed attending and the teacher, I would go consistently.
So happy to welcome a new year, I spent a good amount of time this weekend writing out a plan, or a guide if you will, for those things I'd like to accomplish this year. I read this fantastic post last year and have adopted a similar practice of separating these goals into sections: finances, health, relationships, and activities. Interestingly enough, I don't really include career, as I find that I do a good amount of planning my goals for my job as part of my review process there. I feel like I am pretty covered there, and do have some goals in mind. Some of the things I listed are practical (like learning how to change a tire), some seem like a fantasy (like planning my trip to Italy- but it's really real!), and some are just for my own personal enrichment (like taking an Italian class, or learning salsa).

A new year, and another opportunity to set goals for myself, plan for some wonder, and see what the universe brings me.
